About Mrs. Forshew:
Kirsten Forshew began studying music at age eight when she started learning the piano. She later had the privilege of studying the piano under Dr. George Cherry (Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music). A graduate of Medina Senior High School, Kirsten majored in music at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. There she continued her piano and vocal studies, majoring in music with a voice concentration, and began to teach private students during the summer of 1990.
While at Otterbein, her vocal studies were under the direction of Jocelyn McDonald. During her senior year at Otterbein she completed an internship program with Opera Columbus where she was able to perform in both the Opera Columbus Chorus, and the Opera Columbus Education/Outreach Program. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree, Kirsten went to Nashville, Tennessee, where she was offered a role as a singer/dancer in a variety show at Opryland. Soon after this opportunity she was able to perform back up vocals for Kenny Rogers (Kenny Rogers Productions) for his Christmas Tour beginning in Branson, MO and touring through Chicago, IL. Kirsten continued to run her private studio while she prepared to attend graduate school. She received her Master of Arts in Voice Pedagogy at the Ohio State University under the direction of Dr. Robin Rice.
Following graduate school she continued her private vocal and piano studio in Columbus, Ohio, and later moved back to the Akron/Medina area. She then performed in Hey City's Cleveland Production of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" where she continued her vocal training, branching further into pop styles. She continued to study piano under Jin Yu at the university of Akron.
She is currently working and co-teaching with Tim Carson, founder of Vocal Artistry, through his unique Artist Development Program.
She most recently had the amazing privilege of playing the role of "Diana" in Cameo's "Next to Normal", under the direction of Colin McCord, and Musical Direction of Tom Bonezzi.
Kirsten's favorite role, however, is mom to Kamron (now eighteen) and wife to Dave of 23 years. She has loved the privilege of singing and working with the worship band singers at Grace Church in Bath, Ohio. She truly enjoys teaching and sharing all she has learned with her "kids"! She seeks to provide a warm and nurturing environment for students to learn and discover their unique talents in music.
